PROJECT: Idaho Voices for Children
 
LOCATION: Boise, ID
STATUS/HOURS: _ X _ Full Time Part Time 40 Hrs. per week 100% FTE
FLSA STATUS: __ Exempt _X_ Non-Exempt
 
PAY: $17.24 to $21.63 per hour, DOE
REPORTS TO: Idaho Voices for Children’s Assistant Director
POSTING DATES: June 9 thru June 25, 2017

SUMMARY
The Outreach Specialist is responsible for identifying individuals in communities across Idaho
impacted by healthcare policy and lifting up their personal stories. This position is responsible for
collecting stories from Idahoans impacted by healthcare policy and assisting in dissemination of these
experiences at events, to decision makers and in the media. The outreach specialist must have the
ability to pursue and build relationships with individuals and organizations, meet tight deadlines, and
stay on top of multiple tasks. The outreach specialist must be sensitive to issues of confidentiality, have
strong writing skills and be extremely well organized and familiar with the creation and upkeep of a
database.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
COMMUNITY OUTREACH and STORY COLLECTION
?h Table at community events, attend community and coalition meetings
?h Interview Idahoans impacted by health care policy and document their stories respectfully and with
ethical considerations and while guarding confidentiality as appropriate.

?h Draft interview notes, personal stories, testimonials, and letters.
?h Document all necessary permissions and waivers and maintain in an organized system.
?h Identify and connect with impacted individuals in person and via social media.
?h Coordinate with community partners.
?h Develop and conduct trainings with self-advocates to enhance their ability to share their stories.
?h Organize and successfully run public events.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
?h High interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport and trust.
?h Excellent communication skills: oral and writing.
?h High attention to detail.
?h Ability to think strategically and creatively.
?h A strong commitment to the mission of Idaho Voices for Children, including the organization’s
goal of promoting affordable access to healthcare.

?h Experience establishing excellent working relationships with a variety of individuals and
organizations.

?h Well-organized with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
?h Videography and photography skills (preferred).
?h Able to pass a criminal history background check.
?h A valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation and able to provide evidence of state
required automobile liability insurance.

SYSTEM SKILLS REQUIRED
?h Proficiency in Microsoft Office
?h Familiarity with photo editing and video software a plus.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree or higher in social work, psychology, health or related fields. Master’s degree
preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
None
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in general office environment and travels to venues or other outside facilities where meetings
are held. Some evening or weekend hours may be required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to tolerate heat and cold, and to drive to venues in varied weather conditions. Sitting,
standing, walking, driving, repeated hand and wrist motions (for computer use) are required. May be
required to lift up to 25 pounds.
